Lil Lawaw’s DJ sets weave deep house, techno, broken-beat, footwork and electro, often enriched with the soulful energy of R&B and hip-hop through vocal cuts and samples. As the driving force behind the Cape St. Francis label and club night, Lil Lawaw pushes forward-thinking music that spans everything from house to Baltimore club and footwork. In recent years he has gone back-to-back with artists like AceMo, AliA, DTM Funk, and Shy One. Since launching Cape St. Francis in 2021, he’s brought groundbreaking artists like AceMoMa, OSSX, DJ Swisha, Shy One, Toma Kami, DTM Funk, AliA, Huey Mnemonic, and Black Rave Culture to the Netherlands and Belgium, frequently facilitating their Dutch debuts. He’s also the founder and programmer of Phono Lake - Amsterdam’s intimate lakeside venue for soulful music - and its club night counterpart, Phono Club, both of which showcase his dedication to fostering community and celebrating the more classic club sounds. With over five years and counting at Rush Hour, Lil Lawaw further hones a deep knowledge of Chicago and Detroit-rooted sounds, sharpening his ear and fueling his constant pursuit of a perfect blend of past, present, and future in his music. Before moving to Amsterdam, Lil Lawaw was a key player in Antwerp’s Vice City team, a club night focused on house and disco that earned Red Bull Elektropedia’s “Best Party” award two years in a row by booking acts like Daniel Wang, Pender Street Steppers, and Beautiful Swimmers.
